      Govt. Samithy Higher Secondary School is situated in a beautiful village,Meladoor in Annamanada Gramapanchyath in Thrissur district.

         The School is strarted as Samithy Middle School in 1952 under the management of a group of parents and the well wishers of the locality. Sri. Antony Maliyekkal Chakkalakkal, an eminent personality who is known as the founder of the school,took the leadership and became the manager. As a result of their hard work they gain one and half acres of land as donation from the Infant Jesus Church Committee, Meladoor. the first building the four roomed hall constructed by the Samithy in 1952 is perished after 4 or 5 years of its construction and the school is shifted to the nearby L.P.School. The building is again constructed by the manager himself. They run the school for certain years but it was so hard for them to afford and they can't maintain the school properly. So the Manager Sri. Antony decided to handover the school to the Govt. and the only condition is to retain the name "SAMITHY" and the school should upgrade to the secondary level. Thus in 1974 the school became "GOVERNMENT SAMITHY HIGH SCHOOL,MELADOOR".

        The required land for play ground another one and a half acres is again donated by the same church committee. In 2000 the school is again upgraded to a higher secondary level.
